Description

In 1986 the Lange government threw out the final remnants of British authority in New Zealand and effectively declared our independence. Yet, instead of arranging for a public referendum to ratify this, the NZ Parliament declared itself the new sovereign - and they've acted like it ever since. Recent debate among top legal experts and judges suggests Lange's declaration may have been unconstitutional, and that our current and future governments may be acting unlawfully until this fiasco is addressed properly. What do the party leaders propose to do about New Zealand's damaged constitutional position?
